Antique Caucasian
I have a painting that I believe to be valuable…where can I email the photos?

Hello. I would like to know where I can email the pictures of a painting that I believe to be valuable. I would like to get the opinion of someone who is experienced with paintings and antiques. The painting was given to a deceased relative by someone who was wealthy courter of theirs in 1977. The painting has a dry, not wet look, is surrounded by a wood frame and has a caucasian man dressed in what looks like 17th century wear. He is standing with his hand on top of a bust of an older man. The bust ends at the chest area. The man’s hand is on top of the head of the completely white bust/statue that is on a table. Thanks for your help!

sothebys and christies are a good suggestion, but they are less likely to give you an answer by just looking at a photo. what you should do is look in your local yellow pages or ask at some local galleries if they know of an art auction house in the area. auction houses have appraisers. if you contact them before going in with your painting then you will not have to do as much running around. they also will tell you if there is a better place for you to go to have your painting looked at. if there is more than one place to get your painting appraised then i would do so. don’t let them know you are going to multiple places. that way you will know if a place is trying to sham you. especially if they want you to pay them to make a certificate of authenticity (which is a load of bull hocky and worth nothing). good luck!

Taken on its own terms as a big-screen sitcom, Guess Who offers plenty of humor with just enough social commentary to make its point without being preachy. Of course, we’ve come along way since interracial romance was such a hot-button issue in Stanley Kramer’s earnest 1967 drama Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner, and nobody’s going to mistake Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac (in this updated semi-remake)…
